Voopoo Drag S- The Drag S from Voopoo is the pod mod style offering in the brand’s widely-loved Drag series, and it’s up there with the top vape pens on the market thanks to its cool design and impressive power output. It has a pretty standard vape pen look, but with a clear, color display screen on the front face and two adjustment buttons to allow a free choice of setting, it really raises the bar in terms of capability. On the opposite side, the pen has a leather covering that makes it very comfortable to hold. The device runs on an internal battery with a 2,500 mAh capacity – easily enough for a full day of vaping – and has a super-quick type C USB charging cable too.
The Drag S can put out up to 60 W of power, which is huge for such a simple and compact system. The pod also basically looks like an ordinary vaping tank, except made from glass, which improves the visual look of the device, but means it works really well with the changeable coils. You get a 0.3 ohm and a 0.2 ohm coil when you pick the device up, which work with both standard and nicotine salt e-liquids. It has a bottom-filling design, and a 4.5 ml capacity, and it has a slot-style adjustable airflow system so you can adjust the draw to suit your preferences
The VooPoo Drag S mod pod kit is recommended for intermediate to advanced vapers. Utilising intelligent technology it features a sleek design and is very compact. Powered by a built-in 2500mAh battery it is capable of a 60W max output. The variable wattage function allows you to fully control vapour production for a more individual experience. The 2ml PnP pod is refillable and utilises the popular VooPoo PnP coil range. Voopoo Drag S

Voopoo Drag X & S Review: Better than the Vinci Line?
Voopoo are perhaps best known for their Drag line of successful vape mods. Their modern designs, clean edges and attractive panels made them a hit and now Voopoo is adding two new members to the family.
The Drag X and Drag S are two ‘pod mods’ that are similar in a lot of ways to Voopoo’s Vinci devices. They use the same PnP coils as the Vinci line and also feature adjustable wattage; 5-60W on the Drag S and 5-80W on the Drag X.
Both devices use Voopoo new GENE.TT chipset, have large full color screens, and a 4.5ml capacity pod. The Drag X & S are nearly identical but the big difference is that the S packs a built-in 2600mAh battery, while the X takes a single 18650.
I’ve been using both of these devices for about two weeks now and I’m already impressed. Keep reading for the full run-down on the Drag X & Drag S.

Design & Build Quality
When you look at the design of these two pod mods you can see why they’re a part of the Drag line of devices. The design of the frame is similar to that of the Drag 2 and so are the rounded, metal accented buttons. The design lines are clean and modern and that gives these devices a sophisticated look. From a front view, the Drag X & S look like what the Drag 3 could look like.
In addition to the sleek zinc alloy frame, the Drag S & X also have gorgeous back panels. The ‘Retro’ panel on my Drag X is a tanned leather, while the ‘Classic’ panel on my Drag S is a black textured leather. These panels add a bit of cushion and they feel high quality. The panel is stitched around the contour for an added look of sophistication. ‘DRAG’ is embossed in large lettering across the panel. I’m not sure if these are real leather panels but even if they aren’t, they’re close enough to the real thing that it’s impossible to tell the difference. These are definitely some of the best looking and most well-built pod devices out there.
Unlike the Vinci & Vinci X, the Drag X & Drag S allow you to adjust the airflow. There’s a knob at the back of the devices that can be used to open or close the airflow slots. There’s one airflow slot on each side of the device, just below where the pod sits. This knob feels very sturdy and opening or closing the airflow has the perfect amount of resistance. It’s not too loose nor too stiff. Great job by Voopoo on the airflow adjustment system.
The Drag X is 8mm taller than the Drag S at 95mm x 32.5mm x 28mm; the width and depth of the two devices are exactly the same. The Drag X is also slightly heavier than the Drag S at 165g versus 150g. The added height and weight on the Drag X are due to the fact that it takes a single 18650 battery whereas the Drag S packs a built in 2600mAh battery. Both devices feel good in the hand, and thanks to the rounded back and cushiony leather grip, they’re more comfortable to use than the Vinci line of devices.
Both devices have an identical full color display. The screen is bright, even outdoors, and the text is crisp and easy to read. The fire button, located just above the screen, is firm and responsive. The adjustment buttons, located just below the screen, are similar in feel.
The pod looks more like a tank than a traditional pod. It’s sturdy and the magnets that attach it to the battery are super strong. It looks like Voopoo really went all out to ensure that the Drag S & X are as well designed and well-built as can be and they did a really good job. As far as design and build quality go, I haven’t found a single con.
Features & Functions
The Drag X & Drag S use Voopoo’s new GENE.TT chipset. This is an updated version of the GENE.AI chipset found on their Vinci line of devices. The screens on the Drag X & S are brighter and more crisp than the ones on the Vinci. The UI is also more attractive and just organized better.
The screen displays all the things that you would expect to see like your set wattage, coil resistance, voltage, mode (normal or RBA), and a puff counter.
Voopoo have also added another interesting (and in my opinion, gimmicky) feature to the Drag X & Drag S in the form of a “Score System”. Every time you take a puff, you get a ‘score’ displayed in big numbers in the middle of the screen. At the bottom of the screen is your ‘ranking’. Apparently, the score system starts from ‘IRON’ and goes all the way up to ‘KING’ with a bunch of other ranks in between.
In my opinion, this is just gimmicky and it doesn’t add to the vaping experience in any way. And for a completely unnecessary feature, it takes up a lot of space on the screen. Out of the box, the scoring system won’t be active. If you do want to use it, you’ll first have to complete the age verification on Voopoo’s website and then update the firmware afterwards.
The Drag S will fire at up to 60W and features both draw or button activated firing. The Drag X on the other hand will fire at up to 80W but only features button activated firing. Both devices will auto detect the coil that you insert and automatically set the power to the recommended wattage.
Just like the Vinci and Vinci X, the Drag X & S have a puff counter that tracks your puffs each day. You just have to set the clock in order for this to be accurate. Unfortunately, every time you remove the battery on the Drag X it resets the clock and all previous recorded days on your puff counter. Hopefully Voopoo fixes this with a firmware update.
Drag X & Drag S Button Combinations
The button combinations on the Drag X & S are basically the same as the Vinci & Vinci X:
- Power ON/OFF: Click the fire button 5 times.
- Change Modes: Click the fire button three times to change between ‘smart’ and ‘RBA’ mode. The Drag S also lets you change between draw and button activated firing.
- Lock/Unlock the device (including fire button): Hold the up adjustment button and power button.
- Clear the puff counter: Hold the bottom adjustment button and power button.
- View your puffs per day: Hold both adjustment buttons to display a graph that shows your puffs each day. This information is kept for two weeks.
- Set the device time: Hold all three buttons to set the device time. You have to do this in order for the puffs per day graph to be accurate.
Pod & Coils
The pod looks more like a tank than a traditional pod. It’s round and has a dome shape that ends at a large round mouthpiece. It’s not a coincidence that this looks like a tank though; Voopoo just released a 510 adapter for this pod that allows you to use it on any 510 box mod. That’s an awesome addition because it makes this pod so much more versatile. Voopoo are also supposed to be releasing a 510 adapter for the Drag X that will allow it to be used with any 510 tank.
The pod is very lightly tinted which makes seeing your ejuice level a non-issue. The magnets that hold the pod in the battery are super strong and there’s no wiggle whatsoever with the pod inserted.
The 4.5ml capacity is huge but the high wattage ratings of the included coils makes it almost necessary. I’ve been going through ejuice faster than with other, lower wattage pod systems but the performance has been worth it. In a nutshell: the 4.5ml capacity is big but it doesn’t mean you’ll be filling up any less often than with other pod systems.
The fill plug on the pod is thicker and more sturdy than the one on the Vinci and Vinci X. It’s situated on the bottom of the pod and it plugs the fill port securely and effectively. It’s easy to fill up the pod thanks to the large port and out of the way location.
Both devices come with a 0.3ohm coil (the same one that comes with the Vinci X) rated for 32-40W. The Drag X also comes with a 0.15ohm mesh coil rated for 60-80W, while the Drag S comes with a 0.2ohm mesh coil rated for 40-60W. All three of these coils are solely suited to regular nicotine ejuices; I certainly wouldn’t try using nicotine salts with them unless they’re less than 10mg strength. Even then, it’s likely to be a harsh draw that delivers too much nicotine.
These coils install just like Voopoo’s other PnP coils and simply push into the bottom of the pod. You can use any of Voopoo’s other PnP coils with the Drag X & Drag S so if you have Vinci coils laying around you’ll be able to use them in these pod mods.
