Type: Indica dominant hybrid

Bubba Kush review  a heavy indica hybrid that enjoys very wide popularity. The strain’s original L.A. breeder claims that while one parent was an OG Kush plant, the other was an unnamed Northern Lights phenotype brought back from Mardi Gras in New Orleans; this unnamed mother strain affectionately came to be known as “Bubba,” and has since been lost. Prior to 1998, Bubba Kush was only available as a clone, but it has since been replicated so that its seeds could be packaged and sold. Bubba Kush is a classic indica with a solid sedative high that leaves users relaxed but still functional. It has a typically high THC content, ranging from 15% to 22%.

Bubba Kush has small to medium sized buds that have the dense bud structure characteristic of indica varieties. The leaves are dark green and can sometimes show shades of purple, the result of anthocyanin pigments having been activated by cold temperatures during the growing process. This is a very resinous strain — a coating of white trichomes covers the colorful leaves, and are even visible on the inside when buds are broken open. The flowers have a vague aroma of coffee or cocoa, with some slight fruitiness beneath. When burnt, Bubba Kush smells more hashy and spicy, as might be expected of a Kush, with smoke that is fairly harsh and cough-inducing. Notably, this is one strain whose purple flowers do not result in a grape-like taste: the pigments that determine Bubba Kush’s color do not affect flavor. The taste is mostly dank, with some sweetness and a peppery kick in the exhale. This is also a particularly pungent strain — users concerned about discretion should plan accordingly. Bubba Kush Strain

Unusually for such an indica-heavy strain, Bubba Kush’s high begins with a warped, disoriented sensation in the head. This fogginess, however, gives way to a more expected body melt that intensifies as the high wears on. Although not necessarily energized, smokers can maintain mental focus and converse or perform tasks as needed. Mostly, users will experience heavy, slow-breathing relaxation and a palpable sense of physical comfort. Couchlock is uncommon, leaving users functional and alert.  Bubba Kush’s medical uses are mental as well as physical — it can provide some relief from anxiety and depression in addition to soothing chronic, deep-seated aches and pains. In large enough doses, it can serve as treatment for insomnia as well. Many users describe increased appetite as a common side effect. Well-suited to nighttime or lazy daytime use, Bubba Kush’s stimulation of both body and mind makes it great for activities that involve both — including, but not limited to, exercise and sex. Bubba is a relatively easy to grow and is recommended for newcomers to cannabis cultivation.  Stocky and bushy like most other indica varieties, its plants can be grown indoors, outside, or in a greenhouse. Outdoors, the strain has the advantage of being naturally resistant to molds and other pests, but growers will have to ensure consistent sunlight and a constant daytime temperature between 72 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Bubba Kush grows well indoors in soil, but may have a higher yield if grown in hydroponic solution. The strain flowers between 8 and 9 weeks when gropwn  indoors and is ready for harvest outdoors in early October. Though the yield for the plants of this strain is typically lower — from 32 to 35 grams (or 1 to 1.2 ounces) per square foot — the quality of the flowers is very high. The dense buds are covered in sticky trichomes, making them valuable for curing and direct sale as well as for production of hash and other concentrates. Growers should be sure to properly cure the mature buds by hanging them upside down for about a week in a room that maintains 50% humidity and a consistent temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit; and then sealing the dried buds in wide-mouthed jars in a room with a temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit and 60-65% humidity.

With a healthy fan base and immediate name recognition, Bubba Kush is a staple of the U.S. cannabis market. Its potency and solid indica genetics have crossbred into a slew of child strains like Blackberry KushBubba’s Gift, and Madness. Definitely more of a nighttime strain, this aromatic smoke and relaxing high can be a great way to unwind after a long day. Bubba Kush Strain

Bubba Kush is an indica strain that has gained notoriety in the U.S. and beyond for its heavy tranquilizing effects. Sweet hashish flavors with subtle notes of chocolate and coffee come through on the exhale, delighting the palate as powerful relaxation takes over. From head to toe, muscles ease with heaviness as dreamy euphoria blankets the mind, crushing stress while coercing happy moods. Bubba Kush exhibits a distinctive, bulky bud structure with hues that range from forest green to pale purple.

Bubba’s stocky plant stature and bulky bud structure suggest Afghani descent, but its genetic origins aren’t certain. The breeder whom this strain was named after states that Bubba Kush emerged just after 1996, when an OG Kush hybrid pollinated an unknown indica strain obtained in New Orleans. The mother plant was supposedly Northern Lights, but the genetically ambiguous indica was simply called “Bubba.” Bubba Kush has flourished from its California roots ever since.

Bubba Kush Cbd: Strain Review

The Bubba Kush Cannabis Strain [Reviewed by Industry Experts]

Bubba Kush may taste like chocolate and coffee, but this strain couldn’t be more different in terms of effects. This is a strain that has a huge reputation as a sleep aid, with couch locking capabilities and an ability to really relax you in a multitude of ways.

Sleep; most of the world does not get enough of it, and yet it is something we physically need to function. With rest becoming such a valuable part of life, why is it that so many have not made it a priority? The answer; a large percentage of those who do not sleep enough have extreme difficulties actually falling asleep. Sure, your doctor can prescribe you barbiturates to knock you right out, but can’t there be another, natural solution that’ll leave you with fewer side effects and won’t run the risk of any addictions arising?

That’s where Bubba Kush weed comes in; after you take just a few hits, expect to feel your body melting away, nonetheless your mind will still stay clear and collected. This indica has gained extreme popularity for its powerful medicinal abilities in aiding those who have difficulties with appetite and sleep, the two most essential parts of life, causing the Bubba Kush strain to qualify as literally a lifesaver.

What Is the Bubba Kush Cannabis Strain?

The Bubba Kush strain is classified as an indica strain, producing many of the effects expected from this variety, including happiness, muscle relaxation, sleepiness, couch-lock and increased appetite (here come the munchies!). Its genetic makeup is composed of around 15-23% THC, making it a potent and above-average strain in regards to THC content, and its makeup is composed of 70% indica and 30% sativa. Although its genetics are not pure bred indica, don’t cut this strain short, considering it has been proven to be a wonderful choice for pain relief, insomnia, nausea, loss of appetite, stress and so much more. Although the true origins of Bubba Kush are not 100% known, the Bubba Kush strain is believed to have OG Kush as one of its parent plants, with the rest of the genetic lineage sort of remaining a blur and a mystery.

Aroma, Flavor, and Appearance of Bubba Kush

Bubba Kush possesses a sweet, pungent and grounding aroma, often reminding consumers subtly of chocolate and coffee. Its flavor is like hashish, earthy and nutty in taste, yet with a sweet side that all ties together to send your taste buds on a whirlwind ride of pleasure.

The appearance of Bubba Kush weed steers away from the typical bud look, but is still very reminiscent of usual well-grown cannabis, with frosty green and purple buds, that have small amber/orange colored hairs sticking out from in between. The water leaves are often green and deep purple in color as well. Bubba Kush has a presence that is vivid and bright, exciting patients, stoners, 420-lovers and cannaisseurs all over the world with its aesthetics that are remarkably reminiscent of classic marijuana, with a simple, but enticing twist.

Bubba Kush Grow Info

The Bubba Kush strain is considered a relatively easy and simple cannabis type to cultivate, making it an suitable option for beginner growers or those who are just experimenting with raising one plant. If grown with care, Bubba Kush can produce potent and strong weed that is not only tasty, but also does not take up massive amounts of space. Due to its short height, which typically only extends to about 2-4 feet, Bubba Kush is a wonderful selection for indoor, under-a-light style growing. It can fit into low down closets, as well as cupboards and cabinets, depending on how much space you have available. Its natural inclination to be resistant to molds, pests and bugs, adds to its durability and keeps this crop on the low-maintence spectrum. However, just because a marijuana strain is low maintenance, doesn’t mean it no longer needs the usual care in order to produce medium to top-shelf quality ganja. Although weed can practically grow itself, good bud doesn’t arise from reefer crops that are neglected.

Growing Bubba Kush weed indoors is the most suitable option. As mentioned above, Bubba Kush ganja possesses a rather short size, so the conditions of an outdoor grow must be perfect in order for this strain to thrive out there (never too cold and never too hot). For indoors, hydroponics seems to be the most successful method of cultivating Bubba Kush, but it can be grown well in just about any medium. Additionally, the SOG (sea of green) technique is possible with Bubba Kush, which induces flowering at an early period in the growth cycle, so you can end up harvesting your crop much earlier than expected. The flowering period for Bubba Kush is approximately 8-10 weeks, depending on when you feel is most opportune to halt the process.

If your plant is healthy and grown outdoors, you can expect a yield of approximately 21-28 ounces per plant, with harvest season arising around mid-October. If cultivated indoors, around a 17 ounce yield per meter squared is considered an average to good result. All in all, the Bubba Kush cannabis strain is one worthy of putting time and energy into producing because of a decent yield size and an overall undemanding growing process.

Bubba Kush Effects

The effects of Bubba Kush are unique to indica strains, because enjoyers typically feel couch-locked and extreme body melting bliss with this powerfully rich strain. This is partially what makes Bubba Kush such an ideal candidate for those who are suffering with insomnia.

Expect to get the hardcore munchies from Bubba Kush weed, so have some stoner snacks on hand, otherwise you won’t be able to stop thinking about how hungry you are. With just a few hits, your high will be more subtle, but still you can expect to sink deep into whatever chair you’re sitting on. Don’t worry about brain fog, the Bubba Kush strain won’t contribute to this, and actually tends to keep the mind clear and concentrated, making sit-down chats and communicating no problem. Your words will be totally clear and coherent and your thoughts should remain simple. BK is certainly not a thought provoking strain, and doesn’t typically make its consumer more creative or introspective. Instead, it hits harder on the body and the emotions, so if you are someone that carries a lot of physical tension or someone who needs a positive and happy diversion from dark or intense emotions and thoughts, Bubba Kush is a brilliant option. Furthermore, as you begin to smoke or consume more and more of Bubba Kush, you’ll likely become sleepy, giggly, happy and even more hungry, all blending together into a jumble of pure euphoria and joy. If you’ve timed your smoke sesh right with your body clock, feeling all this relaxation and tiredness will be totally fine, the Bubba Kush can keep your belly full and knock you right out for a good night’s sleep.

Medical Benefits of Bubba Kush

Mental disorders can gain ample relief from Bubba Kush weed, as this calming and relaxing strain seems to be stunningly capable of healing any stress, anxiety, depression or paranoia one may be experiencing. If you are dealing with a mental disorder, consuming a balanced and “just-right” quantity of Bubba Kush cannabis is ideal, for overdoing it can lead to a worsening in symptoms (as with any weed strain).

Additionally, BK is a top-notch selection for those who need support managing the side effects from treatments for serious illnesses such as cancer and HIV/AIDs, not because of a high CBD content, but rather because this mighty indica is astounding at aiding in the relief of pain, nausea, or other symptoms that are often attached to these serious illnesses.

Bubba Kush won’t cure an illness from the inside out, but it certainly makes it easier to handle the everyday challenges and pains that are attached with a serious medical condition. If you are dealing with something that is more serious, you will want to up your dose of Bubba Kush and go for the consumption of an amount that is above average. Edibles, concentrates, candies and live resins, are all methods of consuming marijuana that are typically more potent than just your average ganja in a bowl.

Most of all, Bubba Kush is known for its mind-blowing capacity to help those who have trouble sleeping (insomnia), lack of appetite and even those fighting eating disorders. If you are experiencing one of the ailments listed above, just as those handling a more serious illness, a larger than average dose would be more effective at aiding and assisting any discomforts you might be going through.

Possible Side Effects of Bubba Kush

When consumed too early in the day or too large of an amount, Bubba Kush can make its consumer become especially sleepy, since of course this potent indica is often used as a sedative for those dealing with insomnia. Due to this aspect, it is best to not use Bubba Kush as your go-to day time strain, and rather save it for once you’re complete with taking care of business, otherwise you might find yourself nodding away while important things are going on.

Aside from sleepiness being a result of Bubba Kush, those dealing with stress, anxiety, depression and other mental conditions who are consuming BK to help their symptoms should be cautious. As with any weed strain, over consuming cannabis can cause a heightening in paranoia, anxiousness and stress, especially in the physical sense, and even into the mental realm. It is vital that if you are intaking medical marijuana for mental conditions, be sure to keep awareness of your limits and respect those levels, otherwise you could end up finding yourself in a situation that is anything but fun and relaxing.

Bubba Kush specifically has a tendency to cause dry mouth and dry eyes. If you are experiencing cottonmouth from the Bubba Kush strain, be sure to drink plenty of hydrating fluids, such as ice cold water or an electrolyte drink. If your eyes need soothing, moisturizing eye drops can be purchased inexpensively from your local drug store. Try and have hydrating fluids and moisturizing eyedrops on hand at all times if you are a person that often gets dry mouth or dry eyes when consuming ganja.

Final Thoughts About Bubba Kush

We hope you have enjoyed reading this Bubba Kush review and that you not only found this article entertaining, but also educational and informative. It is important to remember that the consumption of cannabis is the sole responsibility of the user, so discretion should be taken.

Genetic Lineage of Bubba Kush CBD

Bubba Kush CBD is a decedent of Pre-98 Bubba Kush and a CBD rich kush strain.

There are many versions of how Bubba Kush got its origins and the story can be somewhat complex. In the 90’s, there was a boom in cannabis cultivation in the US and many growers mixed and matched genetics without truly knowing which strain was mixing with which.

The Bubba Kush lineage is said to have begun in Colorado in the early 90’s by a grower named “Bubba”.

As time went, skilled growers started breeding the THC levels out of Bubba Kush in order to create a CBD version of the popular cannabis strain.

The result… A heavy indica strain that relaxes both mind and body. A perfect CBD bud for people with difficulties sleeping, pain or just anxiety. Expect to get knocked out. Bubba Kush CBD takes no prisoners.

What is a Kush strain

Kush strains are a particular variety or hemp and cannabis flower that comes from the Hindu Kush mountains that stretches across Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan.

This magical area is one of only a few places where cannabis plants grow natively in the wild.

Though a Kush strain traditionally needs to come from this area (or have a part of its genetics from this Kush mountains), there are some other qualities that usually follow Kush cultivar.

  • Looks: Thick, deep green plats with large colas. Often hits of purple and dark orange.
  • Aroma: Dank strains with floral, citrusy, gassy and fruity aroma. They are usually intense and complex in a scent and can have undertones of many different earthy notes.
  • Flavor: Gas, skunk, herbs, citrus and pine are usually strong in Kush strains.
  • Effects: Indica dominant, heavy and couch-locky feelings are common. Kush strains don’t just put you in a sleepy mood but they tend to give you a blissful and euphoric sense of wellness and inner peace.

Bubba Kush CBD Review

By law Bubba Kush CBD needs to have below .3% delta-9 THC in order to be considered a hemp strain. Anything above .3% and it’s considered a cannabis flower.

That being said, hemp strains can give you a slight head buzz. It’s almost like you feel as it you’ll get high, only to stop short of any real mental impairment.

If you’re new to smoking CBD flower, it can be an interesting experience. Bubba Kush in particular, will give you a “body buzz” and sensations of extreme relaxation. The well rounded terpene profile helps you feel calm, peaceful and overall blissful about life.

Mosst people smoke Bubba Kush CBD for its sedative and pain-relieving qualities. Muscle tension, spasms, joint pain, migraines and much more are things that some consumers report to use Bubba for.

But the effects go far beyond the body… If you have a racing mind or problems sleeping at night, Bubba Kush CBD is perhaps one of the best CBD options for you.

Flavor Profile

Bubba Kush CBD showcases a unique flavor profile.

The complex flavor blends sweet tropical fruit with chocolate, coffee, and earthy taste followed by playful citrus and pine.

Dominant terpenes:

  • Bisabolol
  • Carophyllene
  • Humulene

To get the best flavor out of your CBD flower we recommend smoking from a dry herb vaporizer. The best portable vaportizers will give you a more unadulterated terpene experience and by not using papers, you will get the pure flavor.

Rich floral notes of pine and citrus. It plays with the senses and has a very well rounded nose that is worth spending some time exploring. When grown right, you’ll smell Bubba Kush as soon as you open up the bag or the CBD pre rolls.

Bubba Kush CBD are large, dense and slightly sticky buds that could be covered in trichromes if grown correctly. It’s important not to compare CBD strains to their cannabis counterparts (you’ll get disappointed…) and to understand the difference between indoor, greenhouse and outdoor grown flowers.

If you get your hands on indoor Bubba Kush CBD, you’re in for a wild ride. It can be a sticky, glittery and beautiful sight that is covered in orange hairs and deep purple shades.

Outdoor Bubba Kush will be significantly less “sexy” but can pack the same punch in effects.

The question is, do you smoke with your eyes or with your mouth?

All About the Bubba Kush Strain

Bubba Kush is a strain you should have on hand for those days you’re pushed to the breaking point. No matter how much negativity the world throws your way, Bubba Kush always manages to burst all those stress bubbles. With its high THC content and strong indica genetics, this nighttime strain is ideal for relieving anxiety and inducing slumber.

Anyone who loves body-heavy effects and spicy Kush aromatics will go gaga for these Bubba Kush buds. See for yourself why this hybrid remains a staple after nearly three decades.

From NOLA To LA – The Mysterious Birth Of Bubba Kush

Bubba Kush made its first appearance on the West Coast in the mid-1990s. Unfortunately, that’s all we know for sure about this strain’s beginnings. While there are many myths surrounding this hybrid’s origins, we still don’t have any hard evidence.

Today, the most widely accepted story behind Bubba Kush is as follows: a Californian breeder got his hands on a novel indica strain while traveling in New Orleans. After enjoying the colorful Mardi Gras festivities, this mysterious cultivator returned to LA and crossed the NOLA indica with OG Kush. The result of this fusion was the Bubba Kush that’s still around today.

OK, we know that story sounds a bit fantastic, but it contains a grain of truth. Everyone in the cannabis community agrees that Bubba Kush has significant traces of OG Kush. Since OG Kush plays a substantial role in Bubba Kush, it’s worth reviewing this Cali favorite.

OG Kush – Top-Shelf West Coast Weed

Arguably, OG Kush is the most influential indica-heavy hybrid to come out of Southern California. There are now dozens of exceptional cultivars that owe at least partial allegiance to this monster Kush hybrid. So, what makes OG Kush so unique?

For starters, OG Kush has a reliably high THC count in the 19 – 25 percent range. This hybrid also has a 75/25 indica-to-sativa ratio, which produces a satisfyingly well-balanced high. Although this earthy strain comes on hard, it quickly mellows out thanks to the indica genetics. This fusion of relaxation and euphoria makes OG Kush a perennial favorite at parties.

While Bubba Kush leans further to the indica side, it does share some of these mild sativa qualities. You’ll probably notice the OG Kush lineage as you experience Bubba Kush’s initial head-rush high.

Northern Lights vs. Bubba Kush: How Similar Are They?

As we’ve already mentioned, nobody’s sure what strain was crossed with OG Kush to produce Bubba Kush. Our best guess is that Bubba Kush has some traces of the indica Northern Lights, but there’s still debate over this issue.

We may never know if Northern Lights is in Bubba Kush, but both of these strains are remarkably similar. Indeed, both of these hybrids have high THC content, dense buds, and almost 100 percent indica genetics. However, that doesn’t mean you could use these strains interchangeably.

Compared with Bubba Kush, Northern Lights offers a heavier “couchlock” effect that’s best reserved for people struggling with insomnia. Tokers also report Northern Lights has a more “earthy” flavor, while Bubba Kush has spicy aromatics typical of Kush strains.

People who want a heavy indica experience will undoubtedly prefer Northern Lights. However, if you want a slight sativa lift from the OG Kush lineage, we’d suggest starting with Bubba Kush.

Small Buds, Big Trichomes – Bubba Kush Appearance

Bubba Kush has many of the traits you’d expect from an indica-heavy hybrid. For instance, the buds on this plant are super dense. Bubba Kush also grows relatively short at around 5 – 6 feet.

The leaves on Bubba Kush are usually dark green with occasional shades of purple. Amber pistils are also standard on well-cured Bubba Kush buds.

Lastly, Bubba Kush buds are well-known for their thick layer of white trichomes. Indeed, one theory why breeders named this strain “Bubba” has to do with its sticky “bubble gum” texture. You’ll want to use a high-quality grinder if you’ve got good Bubba buds!

An Inner Spa Session – Bubba Kush’s Relaxing Effects

Bubba Kush is all about relaxation. At first, Bubba Kush eases mental strain with a gentle head-rush sensation. After a few minutes, you should notice this relaxing vibe trickle down your spine. As Bubba Kush blots out all your worries, you’ll enjoy a deep sense of contentment and restful ease.

Depending on your smoking experience, you might feel ready for bed after a few hits of this strain. However, don’t forget Bubba Kush has subtle sativa traces from OG Kush. This faint sativa presence gives Bubba Kush a palpable sense of euphoria that’s not present in purebred indicas.

Because Bubba Kush has a heavy indica presence, it’s best to reserve this strain for late in the day. If it’s your first-time trying Bubba Kush, please be sure you have nothing on your schedule for the rest of the night. People who aren’t used to high-THC strains should also approach Bubba Kush with caution.

Holy Hashish! – Bubba Kush’s Spicy Flavors

Like most strains in the Kush lineage, Bubba Kush has intense spicy aromatics reminiscent of black pepper. Be prepared for a hash-like sensation as you first inhale this strain. People who are prone to coughing fits might want to keep a bottle of water nearby.

Although these distinctive Kush flavors predominate, it’s also common for Bubba Kush tokers to taste a blend of bitter coffee and rich dark chocolate. If you pay careful attention on the exhale, you might also pick up faint traces of diesel, pine, and citrus.

Is Bubba Kush A Beginner-Friendly Grow?

Bubba Kush is considered a moderately difficult strain to grow at home. You need to provide your plants with plenty of light in a reliably warm, dry climate for optimal yields. If you’re growing indoors, set your temperature to between 70 – 80° F. Although outdoor growing isn’t recommended, Bubba Kush will perform well in a Mediterranean zone.

A big complaint that cultivators have with Bubba Kush has to do with its intense feeding schedule. Indoor growers should be well-stocked with cal-mag supplements and nitrogen to avoid nutrient deficiencies.

When it’s time to harvest, expect Bubba Kush to yield about 1 ounce per ft2. Even though that’s a lower-than-average return, remember that you don’t need much Bubba Kush to have a significant effect. Plus, this strain has a ridiculously short flowering schedule at only 8 – 9 weeks.

If you’re interested in getting the most out of your Bubba Kush plants, you should consider planting them in a hydroponics unit. Although hydroponics is more demanding than soil growing, it usually produces the highest yield.

As a final word of warning, Bubba Kush gives off a pronounced “hash-like” aroma that’s notoriously difficult to cover-up. If discretion is important to you, please invest in a high-quality carbon air filter.

Bubba Kush Side Effects

The most commonly reported side effects with Bubba Kush include dry eyes and an increased appetite. Interestingly, many people use Bubba Kush to help stimulate the “munchies” when they feel nauseated. For a more comfortable smoking experience, keep an eyedropper and a few snacks on standby before lighting your Bubba Kush joints.

Like many other high-THC strains, Bubba Kush could induce paranoia and dizziness when taken at high doses. Anxiety patients should approach Bubba Kush with caution.

Soothe Your Brain With The Bubba Kush Strain

For many tokers, Bubba Kush is the go-to strain after a grueling workday. The inner serenity associated with this indica makes it an ideal late-night smoke. No matter how stressed out you feel, Bubba Kush will leave you with a sense of inner peace. Give a few Bubba buds a try the next time you feel overwhelmed. Trust us, your brain will thank you.

One of my all time favorite strains. Very relaxing but I can still function. Great for daytime or nighttime use

  2. frank.elchesen (verified owner)

Looks great, smells, taste and grinds up nicely. Full of resin (that’s a good thing) so it’s sticky and joints need to be carefully rolled…not too tight. Smooth and sweet in paper, a tad harsh in a bowl but not bad. A few hits and you quickly have a pleasant head buzz and your body will feel so much better. I’m over 60 and this indica is great for all pains!

  3. Ghostblood278 (verified owner)

Overall a great strain tastes great and kicks in quick
